Life’s Difficulties and Hardship
By Dr. D. Wayne Beeks | September 16, 2017
“Many men owe the grandeur of their lives to their tremendous difficulties.” – Charles Spurgeon
Some of the greatest men in history also endured the greatest hardship. But all too often in life it may seem we are the unfair recipient of never ending life struggles, hardships, pain, and unfairness in life. We may ask ourselves why would a loving and just God allow this to happen to His children, if He did indeed care for, and love them? It is more the case that because of His great love for us, he allows our struggles. So that we may grow in faith, learning to seek Him, and to share in His glory. In our hardships, and our struggles, we must humble ourselves and reach out to Jesus Christ, seeking His guidance, and to share with Him our burdens, and our pain. Matthew 11:28 states, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” Jesus wants to help us in our struggles and pains, for us to humbly reach out to Him. There will be trials in life, and you will be tested, but Jesus will be with you always in these trials, as you grow in endurance, and in faith.
Lean on Him, and He will uphold you. Reach out your hand to Him, and He will pull you up. Call out to Him, and He will comfort you. He will forever walk with you in life, by your side, in good times and bad; if you reach out to Him, accepting Him into your life, as your Lord and savior.
“Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” (Romans 5:2-5 NLT)
Lord we pray for Your guidance and strength as we endure the struggles, and the pains in our lives. We pray that in these struggles we grow in our faith, and in our endurance, sharing in Your glory, knowing that You are with us always.
In Jesus’s name we pray.
